HCV Treatment

Salem Gastro has the only gastroenterologists in the mid-Willamette valley offering treatment for the Hepatitis C virus.

Using the most up-to-date methods and medication, we customize treatment based on your individual needs to increase chances of a cure. Along with your physician, we have a team of care providers to help you every step of the way.

Steps to treatment:

Diagnosis

The process begins with a diagnosis, usually by your primary care physician through laboratory testing. Your physician will then refer you to our clinic.

Consultation

During the initial consultation, you’ll discuss your medical history, lab results, and current status with our physician assistant. The PA will also explain your treatment options, risks and alternatives.

At this time, additional laboratory work may be ordered, along with a possible liver biopsy. If you are a candidate for treatment, you’ll have a follow-up appointment with a physician or physician assistant, who will further discuss your options, risks, and alternatives.

Treatment

If it is determined that you require treatment, you will learn more about your condition and review the medication once it is approved by your insurance. Treatment can last 12 to 24 weeks depending on your genotype. In all cases, medication must be pre-authorized by your insurance company.
