He specializes in advanced procedures – diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, Celiac plexus block and neurolysis, therapeutic ERCP, ERCP with Spyglass, electrohydraulic lithotripsy, luminal stenting, therapeutic colon polyp management, endoscopic mucosal resection.

He did his residency and was chief resident in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. Em’s specialty is Gastroenterology, with emphasis on inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy and liver diseases.

Katherine Hoda, M.D.

Dr. Hoda was born and raised in the Willamette Valley, completed her undergraduate studies at Oregon State University, and earned her medical degree at Oregon Health & Sciences University. Following medical school she spent six years at Oregon Health & Science University completing an Internal Medicine residency followed by a Gastroenterology fellowship. Dr. Hoda’s clinical and research interests include quality outcomes in colonoscopy, diseases of the colon including colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, and pancreatic and biliary disease.

Nabil Choueiri, M.D.

Dr. Choueiri graduated from the American University in Beirut. His internal medicine training and gastroenterology fellowship were completed at Saint Louis University where he was named Intern of the year in 2005 and served as the Chief Medical Resident in 2007. Dr. Choueiri pursued further formal training in 2010 in advanced and therapeutic endoscopy (including: diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, celiac plexus block and neurolysis, therapeutic ERCP, ERCP with Spyglass, electrohydraulic lithotripsy, luminal stenting, deep small bowel single balloon enteroscopy, therapeutic colon polyp management, endoscopic mucosal resection) at the University of Maryland which is his area of focus.

 

Falguny Bhavan, M.D.

Dr. Bhavan earned her Bachelor of Science Degree at University of Oregon in Eugene, and followed up at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon and a fellowship at Saint Louis University. Dr. Bhavan is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. After a stint in Gastroenterology at Trinity Clinic in Tyler Texas, she joined Salem Gastro in 2015.

Dr. Gates graduated from Duke University School of Medicine, where he completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency. He completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and was an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky.

 

Retired 12/31/2020 – Edward H. Schultheiss, M.D.

Dr. Schultheiss earned his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois. His Internal Medicine training was at Oregon Health & Sciences University. He completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Utah in 1989. Dr. Schultheiss retired December 31st 2020. See Our News.
